Privacy Policy

Bio-Optronics, Inc., (“BIO”), is committed to protecting the privacy and security of its clients, partners, and associates and therefore operates under a set of strict privacy principles.

BIO adheres to the U.S. HIPAA Standards and complies with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union and/or Switzerland to the United States.  If there is any conflict between the terms in this privacy policy and the Privacy Shield Principles, the Privacy Shield Principles shall govern.  To learn more about the Privacy Shield Program, and to view our certification, please visit

What Information is Collected

No personal information is collected by BIO for any purpose except as listed below:

(a) IP Addresses (Server Log Information)

  • In some cases we may collect IP addresses in order to detect unauthorized access attempts and control system access security. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. All computer identification on the Internet is conducted with IP addresses, which allow computers and servers to recognize and communicate with each other.

(b) Registration (User-Supplied Information)

  • Users accessing customer support via our on-line support web site are required to give BIO contact information such as their name and e-mail address, and demographic information such as a ZIP code, organization and/or role. The user’s contact information is used to contact the user when necessary. Personally identifiable information will not be disclosed.

In addition, note that BIO provides its clients with services that involve it processing personal data on its client’s behalf, such as where it provides remote hosting, system monitoring, system trouble-shooting, data warehousing and application management services. In this capacity, BIO does not own or control the personal data it processes, but rather its client does. In this capacity, BIO receives and processes personal data merely as a “data processor” on behalf of its client. In such situations, BIO often has no contact with the individuals to whom such personal data relates and so is dependent upon its client to comply with applicable Personal Privacy, HIPAA, EU and/or Swiss data protection law at the time that the personal data is originally collected or received by its client.

External Links

In order to provide users with greater value, BIO may provide links to various third party Web sites such as the FDA’s document library. However, even if a third-party affiliation exists between BIO and that destination site, BIO exercises no authority over linked sites, each of which maintains independent privacy and data collection policies and procedures. BIO assumes no responsibility or liability for these independent methods or actions and is not responsible for the independent policies or procedures of destination sites. Similarly, BIO cannot take responsibility for the privacy initiatives or the content of such Web sites. These destination links are provided only for your convenience, and as such, you access them at your own risk. However, BIO wishes to ensure the integrity of the BIO Web site and its destination links, so any comments pertaining to or any sites accessed through BIO links are greatly appreciated. Surveys and Questionnaires

From time-to-time, BIO may issue customer feedback and quality surveys for the purpose of measuring its own performance. These surveys and questionnaires may ask users for contact and demographic information. The user’s contact information is used to contact the user when necessary.

BIO has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under BIO’s control. BIO employs strict security measures to safeguard online transactions. All personal information is stored in a secured database at a secured Privacy Shield and Swiss Safe Harbor compliant hosting facility.
